First 2016 Roosevelt Football Breakfast

We had our first Roosevelt HS Football Breakfast on Saturday, August 27, 2016. Here's a snapshot from the breakfast (actually, it was a lunch that was held after the game because the game was an early one at 11 am):

Chef Euylan Welch of WelchOne Catering is in the white jacket serving, and one of our community volunteers is to his left, with a student volunteer to her left. The student volunteers for the day were students in the Marine Corps Junior ROTC at the school, who did a very nice job helping out, as always!!

The next home football game is Saturday, Sept. 10th, 2016, a regular 1:30 pm afternoon game, with our second Football Breakfast of the year in the morning. The volunteers for the day will be members of the August Gate Church, which is located in Tower Grove East, along with a few members of the Roosevelt Community Council.

The 2016 Football game schedule is in a earlier post on this website.

Our next RCC meeting will be Tuesday, September 6th, at 4:30 pm, in Room 023 at Roosevelt, 3230 Hartford St.

Update on 2025 Roosevelt High School Football Breakfasts from the Roosevelt Community Council

Roosevelt High School’s 2025 11-Man Football season was cancelled mid-way through the season after the team’s Homecoming game on September 20, 2025. As reported by the school’s Athletic Director, the team had suffered some prior injuries and also the loss of some upper class team members, and the school felt that it was unsafe to continue the season with the remaining team members, many of whom were younger and smaller players.  The Roosevelt Community Council raised funds in 2025 to provide breakfast to the team before its Saturday games. Usually, this involves feeding 40 to 50 team members and a few coaches for each breakfast. Sometimes, members of the cheerleading team are also present and invited to have breakfast as well.  This is an activity we have supported for a number of years, and it has also been supported by several nearby neighborhood associations and a number of businesses, as well as the public, at ...

We also want to thank the following for their support of the August 23rd Riley's event benefiting Roosevelt High School: Tower Grove East Neighborhood Association, Tower Grove Heights Neighborhood Association, Fox Park Neighborhood Association, and the Tower Grove Neighborhoods Community Development Corporation.

Fundraiser at Riley's Irish Pub - Saturday, August 23rd, 1-5pm - UPDATE

Reminder that our once-a-year fundraiser for the Roosevelt Football Breakfasts is this Saturday, 1-5 pm at Riley's Irish Pub at the SE corner of Arsenal & Arkansas. It turns out that we have a number of very nice raffle items as well as brats, hotdogs, potato salad, fruit, and drinks for purchase. (We miss Bill Gilbert but many of the items have been donated with him in mind.) If you plan to come and help, we will be setting up starting at noon, and will be wrapping up, pulling raffle item winning tickets, and cleaning up starting at about 5 or so. Let us know if you can help if you haven't already let us know. The cell # for questions is 314-241-9994.
