RE:         Roosevelt High School 2026 Fall Football Season – Changes & Donation Request

Dear Neighborhood Association/Community Leader:

We have some changes to share about our once a year fundraiser at Riley’s Irish Pub, which will be on Saturday, August 29th, 1-5 pm. BUT THE REASON FOR OUR REQUEST IS THE SAME THIS YEAR AS IN THE PAST - HUNGRY KIDS.

This year, we plan to support the Roosevelt football team by providing the funds to feed the team after their games. We also hope to provide a sports banquet event for all Roosevelt High School athletes, girls and boys both, in the spring of 2027. The reason for the football breakfasts (which we have provided for years) is explained on our website here: First Football Breakfast of 2015

CHANGES

The Football Breakfast Program provided breakfast to the team prior to their Saturday games. This year, fall 2026, due to Missouri State High School Athletic Association rules, Roosevelt will not have any Saturday football games. The team will be in a rebuilding mode in 2026 and 2027. (Link to more info.:  Update on 2025 Football Season )  The funds we raise at the Riley’s fundraiser also support other things that benefit Roosevelt students, such as the Rough Rider Reading Nooks and occasional donations for other student needs. Our first All-Sports Banquet at Roosevelt was held May 2, 2026 using “Football Breakfast” funds; it was well-attended by students and parents and well-received by all. This event was held in coordination with school administration and with the Roosevelt HS Alumni Association, which contributed support and provided most of the volunteers for the event.

WE HAVE TWO REQUESTS THIS YEAR

1)  We ask for a donation from you, your neighborhood association or your community organization. A contribution of any amount is gratefully appreciated.  All funds raised will be used for the benefit of Roosevelt students. (All of our funds are held by the St. Louis Education Fund (the new name for the St. Louis Public Schools Foundation).)

2)  Our once a Year Fundraiser at Riley’s Pub in TGE will be held this year on SATURDAY, AUGUST 29, 2026, 1 TO 5 PM. PLEASE help us publicize our fundraising efforts through your neighborhood or community organization’s social media platform. AND PLAN TO ATTEND OUR FUNDRAISER!!

We do not expect to need volunteers to serve food this year, BUT WE WOULD WELCOME PARTICIPATION AT OUR MONTHLY MEETINGS, which are held on the first Tuesday of each month at 3:30 pm. Please let your neighbors know that they can contact us to get on our meeting reminder email list.

NEED MORE INFORMATION?

Please contact us if you need have questions or need additional information: Patrick Moore at pmcci@att.net or Norah Ryan at  norah@norahryan.com or 314-241-9994. The Roosevelt Community Council is an all-volunteer organization.

WE THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!!

First Football Breakfast of 2015

"Football Breakfasts" means providing breakfast for the Roosevelt High School football team before its Saturday home JV and Varsity games. About 85% of the students at Roosevelt are eligible for the school's free or reduced price meal program during the school week, but there are no such meals on Saturdays. The RCC began supporting the breakfasts about 8 years ago , when Mr. Terry Houston, then principal, asked us to provide volunteers for the breakfasts. The breakfasts were his idea: they are a way to both support the team and connect the community to the school. The volunteers help set up, help serve, and clean up after the breakfasts. Currently, the RCC raises the funds for the breakfasts, hires the caterer to provide the food, and recruits the volunteers. We held a fundraiser in May at Riley's Irish Pub in Tower Grove East to raise funds for the breakfasts. The balance of the funds comes from donations. The caterer is Euylan Welch of WelchOne Catering. We al...

Fundraiser at Riley's Irish Pub - Saturday, August 23rd, 1-5pm - UPDATE

Reminder that our once-a-year fundraiser for the Roosevelt Football Breakfasts is this Saturday, 1-5 pm at Riley's Irish Pub at the SE corner of Arsenal & Arkansas. It turns out that we have a number of very nice raffle items as well as brats, hotdogs, potato salad, fruit, and drinks for purchase. (We miss Bill Gilbert but many of the items have been donated with him in mind.) If you plan to come and help, we will be setting up starting at noon, and will be wrapping up, pulling raffle item winning tickets, and cleaning up starting at about 5 or so. Let us know if you can help if you haven't already let us know. The cell # for questions is 314-241-9994.

Change in Homecoming Game, Sept. 20, 2025 - vs. St. Pius X (Festus)

We received an update from the Athletic Director at Roosevelt re a change in the Sept. 20th Homecoming football game:  Due to tornado damage from the May 16th tornado, there has been a change in Roosevelt's Homecoming Game on September 20, 2025. The team will play St. Pius X High School (Festus) instead of Soldan High School.  The reason for this is that S oldan's students are moving to GatewaySTEM to attend classes this fall and their athletes will be participating with Gateway's students. Sumner's students will be attending classes at Miller Career Academy and participating in sports with them as well. This left us without an opponent for our celebration. I put out an all-points-bulletin to the area athletic director's for a "hail mary" in an effort to find an opponent to fill the opening in our schedule. I am happy to announce that St. Pius X (Festus) will be our opponent for our game on 9/20. Here's the updated game schedule:
