Alumni Touring Roosevelt and the Weight Room with its New Equipment 8-19-2017

video

Principal Henning gave a group of 1960s alumni a tour of the school and of the school's weight room with its new equipment on Saturday, August 19, 2017. The mural is located outside of the weight room; the plaque will be posted in the room.

We are really grateful for the donation of funds for the weight room equipment. Students have been making good use of the room for several months now.

RCC Meeting Tuesday, Sept. 5th, Room 102 and First Football Breakfast of 2017

The RCC's next meeting will be Tuesday, September 5th, 2017 at 4:30 pm in Room 102 at Roosevelt, 3230 Hartford Street. Parking is on the east side of the school on the parking lot off Compton, enter the building through the main front doors off Hartford and go through security. Room 102 is right near the entrance, a few doors to the left.

Room 102 is the new home of the RHS alumni memorabilia collection, and has a lot of interesting photos and items from the opening of the school in 1925-26 forward.

Here's a photo from our first Football Breakfast, which was on Saturday, August 19th, 2017. Volunteers from the neighborhood and from Roosevelt's Marine Corps Junior ROTC are on the right, football players on the left. We are so grateful to the volunteers who assist with this program. This breakfast was extra early because the team's first game was at 11 am (against Lutheran South - season schedule is in an earlier post).

Reminders - Car Wash July 1st & 15th, RCC meeting July 11, 2017

Reminder about Coach Porter's car wash fundraiser this Saturday, July 1st, 9 to 1, and also on July 15th - get your car clean and help the team. This is being organized by the team's new parent booster club. It will be on the Compton side parking lot at the school, which is at the corner of Compton and Hartford.

Roosevelt Community Council meeting July 11th, 4:30 pm at Five Star Senior Center (rescheduled from 7-4-2017 due to the holiday). Five Star is at 2832 Arsenal St., about 2 blocks east of Gravois, across the street from Kutis Funeral Home.

Attached is a photo of the new weight room equipment at the school, installed. The new equipment was delivered yesterday. Other donated equipment and smaller items were installed earlier. The pic was picked up from Twitter (thank you, Coach Porter and A.D. Corrigan).

Football Breakfasts. One other item - if you are interested in volunteering at one of the Football Breakfasts, please email us via norah.ryan "at" att.net, so that we can send you a link to the district's volunteer forms. There are six dates (6 Saturday home games):  August 19, August 26, September 16, Sept. 23, Sept. 30, October 14. The breakfasts are going to be earlier this year, so you can help out, be done, and be out and about earlier. Volunteer teams from the Young Life program and the August Gate Church will be helping out on several of the dates, and the Jr. ROTC cadets from the school usually assist with one or more dates as well. If you know of a church or other group that would want to send 6 to 8 volunteers on one of the Saturdays, please send us the contact info. The volunteering consists of helping to set up, serve and clean up - our caterer, Euylan Welch, does the hard part.
