A reminder that the Roosevelt Community Council will meet tomorrow afternoon, Tuesday, Dec. 1st, at 4:30 pm in Room 023 at the school, 3230 Hartford. Park on the east side of the building in the lot off Compton and walk around to the main entrance off Hartford to enter through security. The room is on the bottom level of the building on the west side.

A report on the Urban Debate League tournament that was held at Roosevelt on Nov. 14 is pasted in below, fyi.

I have been asked how women interested in volunteering at Roosevelt can get involved with the Conscious Choice program, which is program for women students at the school to encourage them to delay motherhood. The people to contact are Laura Craig or Karen Askew. Emails:  Craig, Laura Y <laura.craig@slps.org>   Karen Askew <askewka@slu.edu>

Urban Debate League Tournament 2 Recap 11-16-2015:

SLUDL Continues to Grow!

On November 14th, Roosevelt High School hosted 131 students in the league's largest event. The staff of Roosevelt High School and members of the neighborhood provided critical support, ensuring the success of our students. A very special thanks to Roosevelt's coach, Michelle Franklin, for all of her support behind the scenes prior to and during the tournament. Dr. Crystal Gale (principal), David Shanks (assistant principal), and Laura Craig (library media specialist) also deserve credit for ensuring the success of the event.

Finally, the tournament could not have been possible without the numerous hours dedicated by more than 50 community volunteers who served meals and/or served as judges throughout the tournament!

Roosevelt 100th Anniversary event - Sunday, January 26, 2025

The Roosevelt Community Council and the Roosevelt HS Alumni Association will be holding a Centennial event on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at Roosevelt High School, 3230 Hartford St., St. Louis MO  63118. Building tours at noon and a program at 1:00 pm. This is the actual 100th anniversary of the day the Roosevelt building first opened for students. An event is also being planned for the fall of 2025, to coincide with Homecoming, and we would welcome alumni of any year to join us to plan for this centennial year.

Change in Homecoming Game, Sept. 20, 2025 - vs. St. Pius X (Festus)

We received an update from the Athletic Director at Roosevelt re a change in the Sept. 20th Homecoming football game:  Due to tornado damage from the May 16th tornado, there has been a change in Roosevelt's Homecoming Game on September 20, 2025. The team will play St. Pius X High School (Festus) instead of Soldan High School.  The reason for this is that S oldan's students are moving to GatewaySTEM to attend classes this fall and their athletes will be participating with Gateway's students. Sumner's students will be attending classes at Miller Career Academy and participating in sports with them as well. This left us without an opponent for our celebration. I put out an all-points-bulletin to the area athletic director's for a "hail mary" in an effort to find an opponent to fill the opening in our schedule. I am happy to announce that St. Pius X (Festus) will be our opponent for our game on 9/20. Here's the updated game schedule:

First game of the season moved to Friday, August 29th, 2025 at 4:30pm

Roosevelt's game schedule has changed, with the first game moved from Saturday, August 30 to Friday, August 29th. Here's the latest from the MSHSAA website:
