RCC Meeting Tuesday, September 10, 2013 4:30 p & photos from August tour

The Roosevelt Community Council will meet at the school on Tuesday, September 10th, 2013, at 4:30 pm at the school.

Here are some photos from touring the building on August 13, 2013. Photos courtesy of Jim Bennett, Roosevelt Alumni Association. Jim reports as follows about the renovations:

Attached  a few pictures of renovated areas. The floors have new vinyl, walls new paint, stairs repaired and the front stone steps repaired with restored banisters, interior stairs and banisters have been repaired. Windows have been replaced. We did not see the library but it saw a major change fifteen years ago. Last renovation to the building was over ten million dollars. Original cost for the building in 1923 was about $250,000. Those were depression dollars when brick layers were paid one cent a brick.

Roosevelt 100th Anniversary event - Sunday, January 26, 2025

The Roosevelt Community Council and the Roosevelt HS Alumni Association will be holding a Centennial event on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at Roosevelt High School, 3230 Hartford St., St. Louis MO  63118. Building tours at noon and a program at 1:00 pm. This is the actual 100th anniversary of the day the Roosevelt building first opened for students. An event is also being planned for the fall of 2025, to coincide with Homecoming, and we would welcome alumni of any year to join us to plan for this centennial year.

Change in Homecoming Game, Sept. 20, 2025 - vs. St. Pius X (Festus)

We received an update from the Athletic Director at Roosevelt re a change in the Sept. 20th Homecoming football game:  Due to tornado damage from the May 16th tornado, there has been a change in Roosevelt's Homecoming Game on September 20, 2025. The team will play St. Pius X High School (Festus) instead of Soldan High School.  The reason for this is that S oldan's students are moving to GatewaySTEM to attend classes this fall and their athletes will be participating with Gateway's students. Sumner's students will be attending classes at Miller Career Academy and participating in sports with them as well. This left us without an opponent for our celebration. I put out an all-points-bulletin to the area athletic director's for a "hail mary" in an effort to find an opponent to fill the opening in our schedule. I am happy to announce that St. Pius X (Festus) will be our opponent for our game on 9/20. Here's the updated game schedule:

First game of the season moved to Friday, August 29th, 2025 at 4:30pm
