The RCC will meet on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 (first Tuesday) at 3:30pm at Roosevelt in the Alumni/History Room. Enter through the main front doors facing Hartford Street, through security, and down the hall to the Alumni/History Room.  We also want to thank the following for their support of the August 23rd Riley's event benefiting Roosevelt High School: Tower Grove East Neighborhood Association, Tower Grove Heights Neighborhood Association, Fox Park Neighborhood Association, and the Tower Grove Neighborhoods Community Development Corporation. 

 Our once-a-year fundraiser for the Roosevelt Football Breakfasts was a big success, and we thank everyone who supported the event!!

Reminder that our once-a-year fundraiser for the Roosevelt Football Breakfasts is this Saturday, 1-5 pm at Riley's Irish Pub at the SE corner of Arsenal & Arkansas. It turns out that we have a number of very nice raffle items as well as brats, hotdogs, potato salad, fruit, and drinks for purchase. (We miss Bill Gilbert but many of the items have been donated with him in mind.) If you plan to come and help, we will be setting up starting at noon, and will be wrapping up, pulling raffle item winning tickets, and cleaning up starting at about 5 or so. The Roosevelt Community Council has been providing a catered breakfast for the Roosevelt High School football team before its Saturday games for a number of years. We call them the “Roosevelt Football Breakfasts.” This event at Riley’s Pub, the afternoon of August 23, 2025, raises the funds to provide the breakfasts. We would love to have lots of alumni come out for this event!! We expect the district’s “clear bag” policy to be in effect. The process for purchasing tickets should be available from the school district soon.

We received an update from the Athletic Director at Roosevelt re a change in the Sept. 20th Homecoming football game:  Due to tornado damage from the May 16th tornado, there has been a change in Roosevelt's Homecoming Game on September 20, 2025. The team will play St. Pius X High School (Festus) instead of Soldan High School.  The reason for this is that S oldan's students are moving to GatewaySTEM to attend classes this fall and their athletes will be participating with Gateway's students. Sumner's students will be attending classes at Miller Career Academy and participating in sports with them as well. This left us without an opponent for our celebration. I put out an all-points-bulletin to the area athletic director's for a "hail mary" in an effort to find an opponent to fill the opening in our schedule. I am happy to announce that St. Pius X (Festus) will be our opponent for our game on 9/20. Here's the updated game schedule:

Five Star is located at 2832 Arsenal St., and there is parking across the street to the north on the Kutis lot. We are working on plans for our once-a-year fundraiser on Saturday, August 23, noon to 5, at Riley's Pub, Arsenal & Arkansas. We need both volunteers and raffle items such as restaurant gift certificates. "Contact Us" to help. 

Roosevelt's 2025 Game schedule per the Missouri State High School Athletic Association - Homecoming is September 20, 2025:

The RCC will meet at the Five Star Senior Center, 2832 Arsenal St., on Tuesday, June 3, 2025 (first Tuesday), at 3:30 pm.   There is parking immediately across the street to the north, on the Kutis lot. We thank Five Star for allow us to use their board room for our meeting. Our July 1st and August 5th RCC meetings will also be at Five Star.  Please put our Football Breakfast Fundraiser on your calendar for Saturday, August 23, noon to 5, at Riley's Pub at the corner of Arsenal and Arkansas.  We need help that day for set up, grilling, sales and with raffle items, so if you can spare an hour or a few to assist, that would be most appreciated. We also need raffle items, gift cards and the like (Bill Gilbert, our biggest fundraiser/organizer is no longer with us). We can provide an official charitable donation acknowledgement letter if needed. We meet every month on the first Tuesday of the month. Our April 2025 meeting is April 1st, and we are meeting at Roosevelt. We moved our meetings to 3:30pm so that we can get a report from the school. The district changed Roosevelt's hours to an earlier schedule this year, 7:15a to 2:12p - due to bus issues.

The Rough Rider Reading Nook as of 3-5-2024. Since then, the rug has been replaced and several new/used chairs purchased from Warehouse of Fixtures.   We have posted on this website about the Rough Rider Reading Nook (outside the Roosevelt cafeteria) several times since it was established. We hope to establish a second reading nook in the building this year. Here's more info. about the first reading nook.  The Rough Rider Reading Nook at Roosevelt High School was established in the 2020-2021 school year, as an initiative of Ms. Enna Dancy, Roosevelt Principal. Ms. Dancy wanted books to be freely available to Roosevelt students.  Community members from the Roosevelt Community Council gathered donations of books for the reading nook, and purchased new and used books and furnishings using grant funds from the City of St. Louis.  Books were purchased from the Eye See Me bookstore in University City, Thriftbooks.com, and Amazon.com, along with the donations of books from ...

This will be a fun event - purpose is to raise funds to support Roosevelt's 100th Anniversary and replace the damaged sign on the football field!!   Tickets at:  RHS Alumni Assn

Building tours at noon and a program at 1:00 pm. This is the actual 100th anniversary of the day the Roosevelt building first opened for students. An event is also being planned for the fall of 2025, to coincide with Homecoming, and we would welcome alumni of any year to join us to plan for this centennial year. 

We are rescheduling today's RCC meeting to next Tuesday, January 14th at 3:30pm, as the Roosevelt building is not expected to be open this afternoon. Sorry for the late notice.
