Roosevelt 100th Anniversary event - Sunday, January 26, 2025

The Roosevelt Community Council and the Roosevelt HS Alumni Association will be holding a Centennial event on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at Roosevelt High School, 3230 Hartford St., St. Louis MO  63118. Building tours at noon and a program at 1:00 pm. This is the actual 100th anniversary of the day the Roosevelt building first opened for students. An event is also being planned for the fall of 2025, to coincide with Homecoming, and we would welcome alumni of any year to join us to plan for this centennial year.

Change in Homecoming Game, Sept. 20, 2025 - vs. St. Pius X (Festus)

We received an update from the Athletic Director at Roosevelt re a change in the Sept. 20th Homecoming football game:  Due to tornado damage from the May 16th tornado, there has been a change in Roosevelt's Homecoming Game on September 20, 2025. The team will play St. Pius X High School (Festus) instead of Soldan High School.  The reason for this is that S oldan's students are moving to GatewaySTEM to attend classes this fall and their athletes will be participating with Gateway's students. Sumner's students will be attending classes at Miller Career Academy and participating in sports with them as well. This left us without an opponent for our celebration. I put out an all-points-bulletin to the area athletic director's for a "hail mary" in an effort to find an opponent to fill the opening in our schedule. I am happy to announce that St. Pius X (Festus) will be our opponent for our game on 9/20. Here's the updated game schedule:

First Football Breakfast of 2015

"Football Breakfasts" means providing breakfast for the Roosevelt High School football team before its Saturday home JV and Varsity games. About 85% of the students at Roosevelt are eligible for the school's free or reduced price meal program during the school week, but there are no such meals on Saturdays. The RCC began supporting the breakfasts about 8 years ago , when Mr. Terry Houston, then principal, asked us to provide volunteers for the breakfasts. The breakfasts were his idea: they are a way to both support the team and connect the community to the school. The volunteers help set up, help serve, and clean up after the breakfasts. Currently, the RCC raises the funds for the breakfasts, hires the caterer to provide the food, and recruits the volunteers. We held a fundraiser in May at Riley's Irish Pub in Tower Grove East to raise funds for the breakfasts. The balance of the funds comes from donations. The caterer is Euylan Welch of WelchOne Catering. We al...
