Seeking Funds and Volunteers for 2012 Football Breakfasts

The RCC is once again seeking funds and volunteers to provide breakfast to the RHS Football Team on Saturday mornings before the team's Saturday afternoon games. This tradition was started by former Principal Terry Houston as part of the school's turn-around effort, and is much appreciated by the team.

The RHS Football Team has five Saturday afternoon games scheduled this year - first game is Saturday, August 25th.

So far, we have commitments from three churches to provide volunteers for the 2012 breakfasts --- two more dates are open right now:

August 25th - New City Fellowship
September 1st
September 15th - Covenant Presbyterian Church
September 22nd - South City Church
October 20th

Ten to twelve volunteers are needed for each breakfast. Volunteers should expect to arrive at about 8:45 am and should be finished by 10:15 am or thereabouts.  The volunteers help the caterer bring the food and equipment into the school building, set up for the breakfast, help serve the food to the team and coaches, clean up after the meal, and help the caterer move items back to his vehicle.

Our caterer this year will be Euylan Welch of WelchOne Catering, the same caterer as last year.

If you would like to donate funds to support the breakfasts, volunteer, or have questions, please contact:  Norah Ryan, 314-241-9994 (daytime #) or email norah.ryan@att.net.  Donations to support the breakfasts are tax deductible as a charitable donation and should be made payable to the SLPS Foundation. Contact Norah for more information and a mailing address for the Foundation.

We appreciate all of the support we have received for this project in the past, and would love to have your support, either financial or as a volunteer, this year !!!!

First Football Breakfast of 2015

"Football Breakfasts" means providing breakfast for the Roosevelt High School football team before its Saturday home JV and Varsity games. About 85% of the students at Roosevelt are eligible for the school's free or reduced price meal program during the school week, but there are no such meals on Saturdays. The RCC began supporting the breakfasts about 8 years ago , when Mr. Terry Houston, then principal, asked us to provide volunteers for the breakfasts. The breakfasts were his idea: they are a way to both support the team and connect the community to the school. The volunteers help set up, help serve, and clean up after the breakfasts. Currently, the RCC raises the funds for the breakfasts, hires the caterer to provide the food, and recruits the volunteers. We held a fundraiser in May at Riley's Irish Pub in Tower Grove East to raise funds for the breakfasts. The balance of the funds comes from donations. The caterer is Euylan Welch of WelchOne Catering. We al...
