Roosevelt Community Council, St. Louis, MO

Our January RCC meeting will be on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at 4:30 pm in Room 102 at the school, 3230 Hartford Street. We normally meet on the first Tuesday of the month at 4:30 pm, but school does not resume until January 3rd, the day after our normal meeting date.

The Roosevelt Community Council will meet tomorrow (12-5-2017) at 4:30 pm at the school, in Room 102. We expect Principal Josh Henning to join us for at least part of the meeting and to give an update from the school.  For those who have not attended before, the school is located at 3230 Hartford St., and parking is on the east side of the building off Compton. Enter the building through the main front doors, up the steps off Hartford Street, going through security. Room 102.  For anyone wishing to make a an end-of-year donation to support the school, you can send a check to the address below. Please note on your donation that it is for Roosevelt, and for either Fund 1682 (the 1960s Rough Rider Scholar-Athlete Scholarship) or Fund 935 (RCC general & football breakfasts). The RCC will meet on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at 4:30 pm, in Room 102 at the school, 3230 Hartford St. Parking is on the east side of the building in the lot off Compton, then walk around to the main front doors, up the steps and enter through security. The meeting room is on the same level as the entrance. Our agenda will include: update on the Football Breakfasts (only one home game/breakfast left on October 14th) and the Roughriders' season so far, update from the school, report on the afterschool program, and discussion of the recruiting process for the Roughrider 1960s Alumni Scholar-Athlete Scholarship. Here's the football game schedule, the remaining two games of the season are on October 7th (away) and October 14 (last home game): Games start at 1:00 pm and admission is $4, cash.

Here are our RCC meeting dates for the rest of the 2017-18 school year - all meetings will be at 4:30 pm in Room 102 at the school: October 3, 2017 November 7, 2017 December 5, 2017 January 2, 2018 February 6, 2018 March 6, 2018 April 3, 2018 May 1, 2018 June, July and August 2018 meetings will be on the same day of the month (1st Tuesday) at the same time (4:30 pm), location to be announced. Principal Henning gave a group of 1960s alumni a tour of the school and of the school's weight room with its new equipment on Saturday, August 19, 2017. The mural is located outside of the weight room; the plaque will be posted in the room. We are really grateful for the donation of funds for the weight room equipment. Students have been making good use of the room for several months now.

Second game of the season (and second football breakfast) tomorrow. Game is at 11 am tomorrow, Saturday, August 26th. Admission is $4 cash at the gate at the corner of Compton & Wyoming.

The RCC's next meeting will be Tuesday, September 5th, 2017 at 4:30 pm in Room 102 at Roosevelt, 3230 Hartford Street. Parking is on the east side of the school on the parking lot off Compton, enter the building through the main front doors off Hartford and go through security. Room 102 is right near the entrance, a few doors to the left. Room 102 is the new home of the RHS alumni memorabilia collection, and has a lot of interesting photos and items from the opening of the school in 1925-26 forward. Here's a photo from our first Football Breakfast, which was on Saturday, August 19th, 2017. Volunteers from the neighborhood and from Roosevelt's Marine Corps Junior ROTC are on the right, football players on the left. We are so grateful to the volunteers who assist with this program. Just a reminder that the Roosevelt Community Council will meet tomorrow, August 1 (first Tuesday) at 4:30 pm at the Five Star Senior Center, 2832 Arsenal St.  The location is about 2 blocks east of Gravois on Arsenal and there is parking across the street to the north. Next month (September 5th) we will be back to meeting at the school, 3230 Hartford St, Room 021.  If you are interested in volunteering at one of our football breakfasts on August 26th or Sept. 23rd, please contact us. Reminder about Coach Porter's car wash fundraiser this Saturday, July 1st, 9 to 1, and also on July 15th - get your car clean and help the team. This is being organized by the team's new parent booster club. It will be on the Compton side parking lot at the school, which is at the corner of Compton and Hartford.  Roosevelt Community Council meeting July 11th, 4:30 pm at Five Star Senior Center (rescheduled from 7-4-2017 due to the holiday). Five Star is at 2832 Arsenal St., about 2 blocks east of Gravois, across the street from Kutis Funeral Home.  Attached is a photo of the new weight room equipment at the school, installed. The next RCC meeting will be on Tuesday, July 11th, 2017 at 4:30 pm at the Five Star Senior Center at 2832 Arsenal St. (moved to 2nd Tuesday due to the holiday). Coach Trey Porter has organized a parent booster club, and they are having a car wash to raise funds for the team - July 1st and July 15th at the school, on the Compton side parking lot. (Roosevelt High School is at the corner of Hartford and Compton in Tower Grove East neighborhood.)

Over the summer, the RCC will meet at the Five Star Senior Center, 2832 Arsenal St., in the board room. "Contact Us" if you have any questions. The location is on Arsenal St. about 2 blocks east of Gravois. Also, since the first Tuesday in July is July 4th, we will meet July 11 instead.

This event is to raise funds for the football breakfasts we provide to the team -- an important fundraiser for the Roosevelt Community Council. Please share the info and plan to attend!!! The 1960s Rough Rider Alumni Scholar-Athlete Scholarship information has been posted on the St. Louis Graduates/Scholarship Central website. The next Roosevelt Community Council meeting will be Tuesday, February 7, 2017, at 4:30 pm at the school in Room 023. Updates on the 1960s Roughrider Scholar-Athlete Scholarship and the Roosevelt afterschool program will be on the agenda, among other items.
